Accreditation Guidelines for Wellness Programs
The accreditation guidelines outline core standards for curriculum, ethics, and student outcomes that schools must meet to earn AANWP/ANWPB accreditation. It sets expectations for program rigor, quality assurance, and ongoing compliance.
1. Institutional Mission and Objectives
• Clear Mission Statement: Define a clear and specific mission statement reflecting the institution’s commitment to natural health education in an online environment.
• Objectives: Establish measurable objectives that align with the mission and outline how the institution aims to achieve them through virtual platforms.
2. Curriculum and Programs
• Comprehensive Curriculum: Develop an online curriculum that covers your subject matter comprehensively.
• Standards Compliance: Ensure the curriculum meets industry standards and prepares students for relevant certifications and practice.
• Continuous Improvement: Regularly review and update the online curriculum based on feedback, industry trends, and advancements in natural health.
3. Faculty and Staff
• Qualified Instructors: Professors/curriculum writers have relevant qualifications, experience, and expertise in natural health, proficient in online teaching methods.
• Ongoing Development: Encourage continuous professional development for professors to stay updated with the latest practices, research, and online education techniques.
• Supportive Environment: Foster a supportive and collaborative virtual environment for both faculty and students.
4. Technology and Resources
• Reliable Platforms: Utilize reliable and user-friendly online platforms for course/program delivery, communication, and resource sharing.
• Learning Resources: Ensure access to up-to-date digital books, journals, online databases, and other educational materials.
• Technical Support: Provide robust technical support to assist students and faculty with any online learning challenges.
5. Student Support Services
• Admissions and Orientation: Offer clear admissions criteria and provide comprehensive online orientation for new students.
• Advising and Counseling: Provide virtual academic advising, career counseling, and personal support services.
• Extracurricular Activities: Promote online extracurricular activities that enhance the learning experience and foster community engagement (webinars, podcasts, summits, etc).
6. Assessment and Evaluation
• Regular Assessments: Implement regular online assessments to evaluate student performance and program effectiveness.
• Feedback Mechanisms: Establish digital feedback mechanisms for students and faculty to contribute to program improvement.
• Accreditation Compliance: Conduct periodic self-assessments and external reviews to ensure ongoing compliance with online accreditation standards.
7. Ethics and Professionalism
• Code of Ethics: Develop and enforce a code of ethics for students, faculty, and staff in the online environment.
• Professional Conduct: Promote professionalism and ethical behavior within the virtual institution and the wider online community.
8. Community and Industry Engagement
• Industry Partnerships: Establish partnerships with natural health organizations and professionals to provide students with networking opportunities and industry insights through virtual events.
• Community Involvement: Encourage community involvement through online outreach programs, webinars, and virtual health initiatives.
9. Governance and Administration
• Effective Leadership: Ensure effective virtual governance and leadership to manage the online institution efficiently.

Invite-Only Accreditation – $100 annually – after AANWP accreditation is approved/paid
Natural Medicine/Naturopathy education programs must demonstrate proficiency in the following educational standards to become ANWPB accredited. Accreditation ensures that graduates are automatically qualified to sit for the ANWPB Board Exam in Natural Medicine/Naturopathy. Unlike other organizations, ANWPB does not require schools to be state registered as post-secondary providers. We welcome all schools, including career, technical, vocational, trade schools, and occupational certification programs, as long as they meet our rigorous standards of education.
To qualify for ANWPB Natural Medicine/Naturopathy accreditation, education programs must comprehensively cover the following subjects:
- Anatomy/Physiology
- Pathophysiology
- Biochemistry
- General Nutrition
a. Macro/Micronutrients
b. Phyto/Zoonutrients
c. Hydration
d. Nutritional analysis - Herbology
- Homeopathy
- World Health Systems
(Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Eastern/Western Naturopathy, Native Medicines) - Naturopathic Modalities and History
- Basics of Aromatherapy, Bach Flowers, Hydrotherapy, Iridology
- Applied Kinesiology/NRT Concepts
- Lab Analysis
(*Not required, but suggested)

- Nutritional Pathophysiology
a. Structural nutrition support – Circulatory (cardio/pulmonary), Digestive, Endocrine, Immune, Integumentary, Lymphatic, Musculoskeletal, Nervous
b. Manifestation of symptoms due to nutritional excess, inadequacy, and metabolic faults - Environmental Impacts on Health
(Specifically modern nutrition intake’s influence on health) - Nutritional Coaching
a. Nutritional analysis and design
b. Comparative analysis of popular dietary modalities
c. Whole foods vs. ultra-processed foods
d. Cultural nutrition influences
e. Health assessment (lean body mass, BMI limitations, labs review, anthropometrics, health history)
f. Motivational interviewing/coaching strategies - Nutritional Supplementation
- Healthy Cooking/Meal Strategies
